I don't remember the lady that my granny is talking about

but she must've been on to something for granny

to write this recipe down.

A generational note...

My granny makes a reference to this person as "Colored Lady".

I remember hearing this as a kid it always

seemed to be used with the utmost respect.

I see what you did here Granny but I'm not falling for it.

Dates are just the bigger brother of raisins.

I'm not so sure about the crunchy veggie spread (crunchy spread just sounds a little sketchy to me),

but I can see egg salad/cheese spread making it into our kitchen lab soon.

Especially given it's one of the few lower carb recipes I've found so far.

I think this recipe saw a lot of work in its hey day.

Nice for it to see the light of day again.

Later in life, my granny's friend, Mrs. Beck, had a

substantial influence in her cooking.

I was often their test subject.

Being the resident grandchild in the apartment complex

my granny lived in had its definite advantages.

The introduction of pineapple into this recipe does not offset the use of raisins.

Clearly the love of raisins that my granny had is not shared by her grandson.
