Raisin Pie

How do you take something as amazing as pie and ruin it?
Make an entire pie out of it!
Here's how to enjoy this.
Step One - Make this pie exactly as described.
Step Two - Throw it away and eat a fudge round instead.

Also...I'm pretty certain the deadline has passed for this contest.
Just repeat Step Two from above and it will be ok.

White Chocolate Mousse Tart

If the Keebler elves came up with this recipe it has
to be sinfully delicious.
Mostly sin...but still delicious.

Confetti Scalloped Potatoes

I never thought of putting green peppers in with potatoes.
I suspect this being kinda sketchy though.
I prefer my peppers with my steak,
thank you very much.

Sausage Gravy

Soo simple in theory but deceptively difficult to
actually pull off correctly.
My wife can make some of the best
sausage gravy and makes it look easy.
I can assure you though, it's not.
This is a straight up expert level dish to master.
Good luck...

Deluxe Chocolate Marshmallow Bars

I could be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure
St. Peter passes these out when you first get to
heaven as a welcoming gift.

Western Beans

This is my kinda meal right here.
Soo hearty..
It would be amazing on some cold,
winter evening to knock the
chill off the ole bones and warm the soul.

Angel Biscuits

I remember having these quite a bit around the holidays.
They were always a big hit and
rarely made it past dinner.
If any did, a little mouse that looked
a lot like me, would find their way
into the kitchen that night and finish them off.

Idaho Potato Cake

The sheer amount of carbs in this recipe lets
me know it will be super tasty.
Carbs...the drug dealers of the food world.

Sauerkraut Casserole

My Granny loved her sauerkraut.
Being around her, this love rubbed off on me.
The apples and brown sugar in this one though...
I'd definitely have to taste this one to become
a believer in this recipe.

Oven-Roasted Potatoes

Food can be way over complicated at times.
Sometimes the beauty and taste
lies in the simplicity.

Spoon Rolls

You know these originated in the south.
The sugar gives it way every time.

Fried Green Tomatoes

This is an absolute staple of southern cooking.
I'm am not a fan of raw tomatoes at all.
Fry them up though,
you got yourself a winner.

Corn Pudding

There's quite a few recipes like this that were cut out
of a publication of which I'm not sure of.
Looks like Granny wanted to remind herself that this
one was "very good".

Kentucky Burgoo

Just the name of this feels super old school
in all the good ways.
This one will find its way into our kitchen lab
for sure if I have anything to do with it.

Salmon Patties Ole

I hate to say it but the thing that stood out to me the most
from this recipe was the back of it.

My inner middle schooler was in joke heaven.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

This is absolutely food for your soul.
Just make sure you open the windows
while you're cooking the cabbage..
and after you eat it...

Kale, Bacon, and Oatmeal Dish

I like bacon...
I like oatmeal...
I even like cooked kale...
Together though?
I don't think some marriages are meant to be.

Ya! Swedish Rice Pudding

I know what you're thinking:

1.) The publishers of this paper have a terrible sense of humor...and culture.
2.)  i wish I had all the across clues for the crossword puzzle too.

Rose Rondinelli's Hungarian Bread

I'm not sure who Rose was but her Hungarian Bread recipe
got the attention of the local paper and my granny.
Kudos to you Rose indeed.

Salmon Croquettes

I'm not sure I equate the word "Croquettes"
with a recipe from "The Old Days".
If by that, you mean the fairy tale times when you lived in a castle
with your family they ruled the land...then yes...
I can see you seeing this as a recipe from the old days.

Yes...I'm being a little judgy.

Crunchy Apricot Cake & Sweet Potato Cake

Here's a "two for the price of one" recipe.
I was never a huge fan of apricot but
throwing it in a cake definitely helps
possibly swaying the jury.

Sweet Potato Cake.
You had me at sweet potato...

Pepper Steak

Pepper Steak...oh yeah.
Go ahead and sign me up for this one.
This one is already a winner in my eyes.

Graham Cracker Salad

It says salad so it has to be healthy.
No...you can't change my mind on this.

Angle Bisquits

I really have no idea who typed this.
I highly doubt it was my granny.
Not because of the hilarious grammatical errors.
She was just more of a write it down kinda person.
I swear all I can I can envision in my head
are little "L" shaped nuggets of bread.

Doubled Applesauce Cake

Typewriter skill level 100 on this recipe.
Look kids...this is where the
"Typewriter" font came from.

Broccoli Bread

I'm not a broccoli hater and I'm all about a good bread.
That being said, this one seems a tad sketchy to me.
Proceed with caution.

Carrot Raisin Salad & Pecan Rolls

Man...I totally remember these pecan rolls.
These will blow your mind and totally
redeem this paper for containing another
recipe referencing the mere existence of raisins.

Shelia Neighbor Corn Bread

Shelia was my granny's oldest daughter.
She moved around a lot so it's a
miracle that we even knew where she was living
much less to get to know one of her neighbors.
Apparently this was one heck of a cornbread recipe.
